women from indigenous village Kamayurá

This indigenous people, who speak Tupy-Guarany, live in the north of the state of Mato Grosso, in a region called Alto Xingu. Xingu is the name of a large river and these people inhabit a region bathed by rivers that come together to form it.

They work the buriti fiber well, mixing it and embroidering pieces with cotton threads, all native to the region.

They make basketwork, using a particular braid to tie the ends of the fibers, making each piece quite resistant, even if when we see them we notice their delicacy and lightness.
