Irailda Palmeira was born in Cajueiro, Alagoas. Embroidery and painting were always part of her life, but the work with craftsmanship only became a possibility to her in 2015, after inspired by the work of Mestre João das Alagoas, her father-in-law and one of the big names of the Brazilian craftsmanship, she decided to create her first pieces with clay. The traditional celebrations of her State, the simplicity of the people of the countryside in their daily lives and the preparations for the celebrations, the colourful, the dance, and everything that Alagoas vibrates with in such a genuine way fills the artisan’s imagination, that has in the warriors and the playful as the inspiration for the most iconic pieces of her work.
