Dimas

Descendent of the indigenous tribe Tupinambá and son of F. Ribeiro, an important artisan from Piauí, Dimas inherent from his father the ability to carve and sculpt pieces in wood. For many years he carved characters of our folklore and searched in the daily life of the North-eastern the inspiration for many of his creations.

In Parnaíba, the artisan is known for the skinny and long dogs that he sculpts in umburana branches – tree of noble wood – and for which the artisan holds great affection for. “We cover very long distances to catch the wood, we carry the weight, and spend about two days to finalise the piece.”
